Alexander Kabanov Prof.
Biography
Alexander Kabanov is a Distinguished Professor at the Eshelman School of Pharmacy, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Director of the UNC Center for Nanotechnology in Drug Delivery. He has made significant contributions to nanomedicine, focusing on polymeric micelles, polyelectrolyte complexes, nanogels, and exosomes for therapeutic delivery for cancer and neurological diseases. With over 350 scientific papers and 36 US patents, his innovations have been licensed to biotech start-ups. Kabanov has co-founded pharmaceutical enterprises raising over $100 million. He has mentored 80+ graduate students and postdocs, promoting diversity. He is a member of prestigious academies and a fellow of scientific societies, including Academia Europaea, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the National Academy of Inventors.
